Security forces and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested four operatives of India’s intelligence agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) during a major operation in Karachi, SSP Shoaib Memon told the media in a press briefing.
The suspects, who were arrested, were working for the Indian intelligence network and were directly in contact with Indian Army Colonel Ranjit, SSP Memon added.
Instruments, vehicles, and weapons were recovered by the authorities from the suspects. The SSP further stated that the suspects were sharing sensitive images and geotagged coordinates of military establishments with their handlers on the other side of the border.
“Four suspects are natives of Sujawal district and have crossed the Indian border over 20 times,” SSP SIU disclosed.
Offences under anti-state and espionage charges have been lodged against the suspects. SSP Shoaib Memon confirmed that further investigation is in progress to track their network and other accomplices.
During an intelligence-based operation in South Waziristan Sra Rogha area, security forces killed 11 foreign militants reportedly operating under Indian sponsorship and injured seven others, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Earlier, according to ISPR the operation involved intense exchange of fire, during which Major Moeez Abbas Shah and Lance Naik Jibraan Ullah embraced martyrdom, on Tuesday. Major Shah was leading the operation.
ISPR stated that the militants’ hideout was effectively targeted based on precise intelligence. The foreign elements involved were part of terrorist activities allegedly backed by India.
Major Syed Moeez Abbas Shah, aged 37 and a resident of Chakwal, was known for his courageous leadership in several counter-terror operations.
Lance Naik Jibraan Ullah, aged 27, hailed from Bannu District.
