Karachi Weather Today : Following a shift in weather patterns that brought relief to heat-stricken residents, Karachi is likely to experience more light rain or drizzle today, according to recent forecasts issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The forecast for the next 24 hours suggests a continuation of muggy conditions paired with intervals of cloudiness.
Karachi Weather Today daytime is expected to climb to 34°C–36°C, while the early morning low stood at 29.7°C. Despite the persistent humidity—currently around 75%—a gentle sea breeze at 10 km/h is offering some minor comfort across the city.
Friday’s initial rainfall marked a much-needed break from the relentless heat, dropping the apparent temperature and offering brief reprieve. Since then, intermittent showers have continued to freshen the atmosphere.
Meanwhile, the PMD has alerted the nation to brace for a more pronounced weather development. Starting June 25, a wide-reaching monsoon system is forecast to sweep across multiple parts of the country, bringing heightened rainfall risks and related hazards.
Moist air masses from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea have already started reaching the upper and central regions, with increasing intensity expected in the coming days.
A significant westerly wave is projected to reach northern Pakistan by June 25 and peak around June 26, potentially leading to intense downpours across various provinces.
Regions including Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Swat, Kohistan, Dir, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, D.G. Khan’s hill streams, parts of northeast Punjab, and Kashmir may face flash flooding between June 26 and July 1. Urban flooding is also likely in low-lying districts of Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Nowshera, Peshawar—and potentially even Hyderabad and Karachi—during the same window.
In mountainous and landslide-prone zones of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, the persistent rainfall could lead to road blockages due to slope failures.
The PMD has cautioned that the combination of heavy rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorm activity might disrupt everyday routines and inflict damage on vulnerable infrastructure, including makeshift homes, overhead wires, hoardings, and solar installations. Citizens are advised to stay alert and take preventive measures.
