The city awoke to cooler breezes and a light drizzle on Friday morning, providing temporary relief from the recent spell of heat, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Light showers were recorded in several localities, including Clifton, Lyari, Maripur Road, and surrounding sectors. The early morning precipitation gave residents a much-needed break as the skies remained cloud-covered.
Weather experts anticipate intermittent light rain to persist into the evening and possibly extend through Saturday, mainly during the early and late hours of the day.
Karachi’s weather over the next 24 hours is expected to remain partly cloudy, with gusty winds continuing to sweep across the city. The maximum temperature is likely to touch 36°C, while humidity stands at a high 75%. Winds are currently moving at a speed of 10 km/h from the southwest.
On a broader scale, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory in anticipation of unstable weather conditions predicted between June 20 and 23 across several regions of the country.
Pre-monsoon rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, is expected to impact areas such as Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this period. The NDMA has warned of potential hazards linked to high-velocity winds, such as the uprooting of weak trees and damage to fragile or poorly built structures.
Authorities have urged the public to take precautionary measures, including keeping vehicles in sheltered locations and avoiding travel during low-visibility conditions caused by dust storms or thunderstorms. All relevant agencies have been directed to remain alert and ensure emergency response mechanisms are in place.
Citizens are advised to stay updated with the latest weather developments by regularly checking alerts through the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App.
