The death toll in the horrific terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar has risen to eight after two more injured students martyred during treatment.
Several youngsters are among the more than 30 persons injured in the attack, which happened a few days ago.
Security officials said that the most recent fatalities, identified as students Muskan and Sheema Ibrahim, accepted martyrdom while receiving medical care in Quetta.
According to security officials, the explosion has now claimed the lives of eight pupils and injured over thirty more, some of them critically.
Seven girls and one boy, all of whom were students in different grades, are among the martyrs.
A school bus carrying children in the Khuzdar area was the target of the first explosion, which was ascribed to Indian-sponsored terrorists acting through proxies in Balochistan.
Three students were among the first to be martyred on the day of the attack: Aisha Saleem (16), Hafza Kausar (12), and Sani Soomro (12).
The attack was carefully planned in India and carried out by terrorist groups supported by India, including as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), also known as Fitnat-ul-Hindustan, as part of a broader effort to destabilize Pakistan, security sources reaffirmed.
Authorities have promised that those who caused the carnage will face consequences.
Federal leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, have strongly denounced the incident.
During a recent visit to Quetta, the Prime Minister met with the relatives of the injured children and the victims at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking a firm stand against terrorism.
