Lahore Airport now issues international driving license

An International Driving Permit (IDP), also known as an international driving license, is a document that translates your existing domestic driver license, in a matter of several languages, such that you can lawfully drive in new nations.

An international driving license was accepted in more than 150 countries as a supplement of your national driving license mentioned in Geneva Convention of 1949 on Road Traffic of 1949 and Vienna Convention of 1968, and never as an independent one.

The foreigners including Pakistanis in foreign countries need to have an international driving license to be able to use their vehicles in the country of residence.

To ease the way of the Pakistani people, the Punjab Traffic Police has introduced the first ever facilitation kiosk in the country at Allama Iqbal international airport Lahore.

The kiosk, which was launched by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Dr. Muhammad Athar Waheed, provides a game-changing service where citizens can access an International Driving Permit (IDP) within five minutes without any hassles to make the journey of international travelers convenient.

This project is an effort to support our modernization of the traffic services and opening up affordable accessibility to people particularly at strategic places such as the airports, Dr. Muhammad Athar Waheed said during the occasion.
