With smog intensifying once again in Punjab, Lahore has reclaimed the top spot among the world’s most polluted cities, recording an alarming AQI of 599.
After a few days of decline, the intensity of smog in Lahore city started increasing once again. The air pollution has become a scourge for citizens.
Due to polluted air coming from India, Lahore has once again reached first place in the list of the world’s most polluted cities.
Lahore’s Air Quality Index was recorded at 599, while the Indian capital New Delhi remained in second place with an AQI index of 481.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) on Syed Murtabat Ali Road in Lahore soared to 1097, while Raiwind recorded an AQI of 830 and Gulberg reached 802. In Multan, air quality remains unhealthy with a pollution level of 284. Similarly, Peshawar’s AQI was recorded at 252, Rawalpindi at 175, and Islamabad at 142.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), there is no chance of rain in Lahore for the next week.
The Meteorological Department says that the weather in the provincial capital Lahore will remain cold and dry, the temperature in Lahore was recorded at 16 degrees Celsius in the morning, while the minimum temperature can go up to 11 and the maximum can go up to 23 degrees Celsius.
Furthermore, the weather forecasters said the wind speed in the city was recorded at 5 kilometers per hour, while the humidity in the air in the provincial capital is 84 percent.
