Weather patterns are shifting across Punjab as moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal combine with an approaching westerly system, setting the stage for sporadic rain and stormy weather across the region starting Friday night.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has cautioned that areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, and Lahore may experience showers and strong winds by Friday evening.
This weather activity is expected to intensify over the weekend, with rainfall and windstorms anticipated across a wider range of districts including Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jhang, and Mianwali on Saturday and Sunday.
Parts of southern Punjab, including Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan, could face particularly strong wind events.
Despite the forecasted rainfall, temperatures in Lahore are expected to remain high, hovering between 41°C and 43°C through Monday. The city experienced a high of 40°C on Friday, with humidity levels reaching 45% in the evening.
Elsewhere in the province, intense heat continued to dominate over the past 24 hours. Bhakkar recorded the highest temperature at a scorching 48°C, while Attock and Dera Ghazi Khan saw mercury levels rise to 45°C.
