Rain, gusty winds and hailstorms are forecasted in Lahore and Punjab for Sunday night and Monday.
The rainy spell will bring relief by bringing down the severity of the ongoing heatwaves in Punjab.
A shallow westerly wave dominates the upper regions of Pakistan, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). While high pressure at upper atmospheric levels dominates central and southern regions of the country and is expected to dominate them during the next three days.
During these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are forecast at scattered places in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Jhang, Noorpur Thal and Bhakkar during Sunday night and Monday. Hailstorm is also expected at scattered places during this time. Very hot and dry weather is forecast elsewhere in the province.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will probably be in the range of 43°C to 45°C on Monday and 42°C to 44°C on Tuesday.
Heatwaves dominated Lahore and the majority of Punjab districts in the last 24 hours.
Sargodha, Bhakkar, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar continued to be the hottest Punjab locations, with a maximum temperature of 47°C. Dera Ghazi Khan’s maximum temperature was 46°C.
In Lahore, the temperature was maximum at 44°C. Relative humidity in the night was at 23 per cent.
