Actress Sahar Hashmi, who plays Riya in the trending drama Mann Mast Malang, has stirred controversy with her offbeat remarks about the show.
While the drama continues to attract viewers with its bold romantic themes and high ratings, it has also faced backlash—especially following Sahar’s recent candid interview.
Speaking about what drew her to the project, Sahar said, “I read three to five episodes and thought, ‘This is yummy,’” she laughed, describing her instant connection with the story. She also shared that veteran actress Saba Hameed called the plot “chaat with 14 masalas,” referencing its many twists and turns.
When asked about filming romantic scenes with co-star Danish Taimoor, Sahar admitted feeling nervous. “I’m a jolly person, but shooting romantic scenes with Danish was very difficult for me at first. He has that screen aura—but in real life, he’s just a pookie,” she said, recalling her mix of hesitation and laughter during those moments.
However, both Sahar’s playful comments and the drama’s content have received mixed reactions online. One user slammed the scenes as “vulgar, not romantic,” while another wrote, “It’s not aura, it’s tharak.” Some even went as far as saying, “She and her yummy male lead need therapy.”
Notably the drama is under fire these days for its bold moves, with audience backlashing Danish and Sehar for signing such project. Many calls it ‘not fit for Pakistani industry,’ while others voiced concerns over its influence over the society especially under 18 viewers.
However, despite of all this criticism the show has continued to grab notable viewership with making it one of the most watched shows of the season.
