Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz revealed on Friday that a medical college will soon be set up in Layyah, with work expected to begin without delay.
Speaking during a laptop and scholarship distribution event held in the city, Maryam shared her commitment to giving students across Punjab more access to education and modern tools.
“We’re making sure that no student is left behind when it comes to learning and technology,” she told the audience.
This being her first year in office, she noted that there’s much more she plans to accomplish in the time ahead.
While addressing students, she added, “You don’t owe me any thanks — this is something you deserve. It’s your right, not a favor.”
She also announced the expansion of two major student-focused initiatives. The scholarship program has been scaled up from 30,000 to 50,000 recipients, and the annual number of laptops distributed will now be 100,000 instead of 30,000.
“I want to see young people stand on their own feet, without needing to depend on anyone,” she emphasized, adding that a country cannot claim to care for its citizens if it fails to support their growth.
