As tensions rise with India and Pakistan launches Operation Bunyan ul-Marsoos, one name that suddenly caught public attention is Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed. With his confident presence and calm delivery during press briefings, many now call him the new national crush of Pakistan.
Aurangzeb Ahmed, a senior officer in Pakistan Air Force, has become face of military updates during current conflict. He’s been briefing nation on how PAF carried out its air operations, claiming downing of six Indian jets — and it’s not just his words, but how he says them, that has caught people’s eye.
AVM Aurangzeb started his journey in December 1992, when he joined the General Duty (Pilot) branch of PAF. Since then, he’s flown high — literally and professionally. Over the years, he has commanded a fighter squadron, led an operational air base, and taken on several high-stakes roles in Air Headquarters Islamabad.
He’s not just a skilled pilot — he’s also a scholar. He completed Master’s degrees in Military Arts from a Chinese university, and in National Security & War Studies from Pakistan’s National Defence University. Later, he returned to NDU as part of teaching faculty, training next generation of military minds.
But AVM Aurangzeb’s work hasn’t been limited to Pakistan. He headed a team from Pakistan Aeronautical Complex in Saudi Arabia, showing his leadership even in international defence matters. Back home, he has served as DG PR (Public Relations), DG Warfare & Strategy, and now is Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Operations) — a top-tier post at PAF HQ.
His long service has been honoured too — he was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), one of Pakistan’s highest military awards, for his dedication and service.
From battlefields to briefing rooms, from fighter jets to national TV — AVM Aurangzeb Ahmed has now become more than a military leader. With brains, bravery, and quiet charisma, he’s won both strategic victories and the hearts of Pakistanis.
