Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s divisive and provocative remarks against Pakistan in his speech on Monday have been flatly denied by the Foreign Office.
“At a time when international efforts are underway to promote regional peace and stability, Indian Prime Minister Modi’s remarks represent a dangerous escalation rooted in misinformation, political opportunism, and a blatant disregard for international law,” Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement released on Tuesday. “This statement also demonstrates a tendency to create false narratives in order to defend aggression,” he continued.
According to Khan, Pakistan is still dedicated to the recent ceasefire agreement and is taking the required actions to promote regional stability and de-escalation.
“This ceasefire was made possible by a number of friendly nations that contacted us with de-escalation-promoting messages,” he stated. He denounced as yet another egregious lie the idea that Pakistan is pursuing a ceasefire out of “despair and frustration.”
“The Pahalgam attack is being exploited without credible evidence to malign Pakistan, justify military adventurism by contriving a casus belli, serve domestic political objectives, deflect attention from rising communal tensions and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and reinforce a manufactured narrative of a perpetual external threat,” the spokesperson said, characterizing the incident as a politically motivated and contrived story meant to justify aggression against Pakistan.
He claimed that despite Pakistan’s patience, India irresponsibly worsened the situation by striking Pakistan’s military bases, running the risk of an unmanageable spiral, following its unlawful and unprovoked aggression against innocent Pakistani citizens under the bogus pretense of terrorism.
The statement cautioned that Indian activities brought the entire region to the verge of catastrophe and established a risky precedent for aggression. “This reflects the mindset of a revisionist actor who wants to disrupt South Asia’s strategic stability without considering the repercussions,” he said.
He added that by presenting its brinkmanship as the “new normal” for the area, India is trying to defend the ruthless killing of defenseless civilians, primarily women and children.
