Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday chaired special meeting to examine security arrangements in Muharram, sources reported.
Attendees of the meeting examined security plan in Muharram in all four provinces and Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Islamabad.
The attendees also decided to take strict action against individuals for spreading hatred on social media.
It was decided in the meeting that some suggestions will be submitted to Pakistan Electronics and Regulatory Authority (PENRA) in this regard.
It was also decided to initiate effective measures so that law and order situation remains under control during Muharram.
The meeting decided to take the decision regarding the suspension of internet and mobile services after consulting the provinces.
Mohsin Naqvi promised to make all decisions in consultation with all concerned organisations.
He asserted that the Center will provide all possible support to all the provinces of Pakistan including Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and Islamabad to ensure the stability of law and order situation.
Mohsin Naqvi asserted that no one will be permitted to take the law into their own hands.
He asserted that enforcement on SOPs should be ensured during Muharram, particularly on majalis and processions.
Mohsin Naqvi asserted that the latest technology should be utilized while monitoring Muharram processions and majalis.
Interior Minister of State Talal Chaudhary, federal secretary interior, acting chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), DIG Islamabad, and other heads of law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) participated in the meeting.
Inspector-Generals of Police (IGPs) and secretaries of Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Islamabad attended the meeting.
