Pakistan is expected to experience widespread monsoon rains over the next eight days, with the Meteorological Department warning of urban flooding, flash floods, and landslides.
Alerts have been sent out by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) asking authorities and citizens to take preventative action.
The current rainy spell is expected to last until July 5; on July 6, a fresh wave of westerly winds is expected to arrive in the upper regions, according to the Meteorological Department.
Up until July 10, this will cause significant rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad.
From July 5 to July 10, the Met Department predicts significant rainfall in the following areas:
- Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, and Peshawar are all parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
- July 6–10 in Gilgit-Baltistan & Kashmir.
- Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Faisalabad, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Chiniot, and Sheikhupura are all in Punjab.
- Galiyat and Islamabad.
- South Punjab: DG Khan, Rajanpur, and other areas.
- Northern, eastern, and southern parts of Balochistan from July 6–8.
