A rocket was fired at the house of Prime Ministers Special Assistant and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mubarak Zeb Khan in the wee hours on Saturday.
Security sources said that the rocket was launched late on Sunday night and it partially damaged the entrance to the house of Mr Khan, in Bajaur district.
District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafique verified the occurrence and said that it happened at around 1am. The police and other law enforcement agents arrived at the scene shortly after the attack and isolated the area.
Additionally, a probe has been initiated to determine the nature and the reason of the attack. Forensic teams are gathering evidence, and various angles are being investigated, police officials added.
“It is not the first time the house of Mr Khan is being targeted. Another such case occurred on May 14 whereby an explosion blew off the main gate of the same house. Luckily, there were no injuries involved in the case as well,” an official stated.
The continued attacks on Mubarak Zeb Khan house have cast doubt on the security condition in the region. After the attack, security has been beefed in and around the locality. The intelligence and law enforcement agencies are also working hard to trace the perpetrators.
It is pertinent to note that Mubarak Zeb Khan affiliated with the ruling party has been an active local politician and is credited with development works in the Bajaur, a district that has seen occasional violence in recent years due to its proximity to the former tribal belt.
