Following the unexpected death of Indian actress Shefali Jariwala, a statement by prominent Pakistani religious figure Mufti Tariq Masood has sparked widespread discussion online. The scholar’s comments, which rapidly gained attention across social media, focused on the spiritual and moral implications of the actress’s passing.
According to Mufti Tariq Masood, the late celebrity, who once enjoyed global recognition, met an abrupt and somber end. Referring to her cremation due to her Hindu faith, he remarked that such moments expose the fleeting nature of worldly fame. He suggested that the event should have served as a reminder for those engrossed in materialism, especially non-Muslims.
However, the Mufti expressed disappointment that instead of reflection, people responded by revisiting her songs and film clips, a reaction he deemed pointless. He questioned society’s fascination with celebrity glamor, pointing out the irony of spending enormous amounts on beauty while ignoring the inevitability of death.
He further stated that Muslims should approach such events in accordance with Islamic teachings, emphasizing that offering prayers for forgiveness for non-Muslims contradicts religious guidelines.
Meanwhile, the actress’s family held a memorial gathering on July 2, attended by close relatives and friends. A deeply emotional video clip from the prayer meet has emerged, showing Shefali’s father in tears while her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, tried to comfort him. The video has left fans heartbroken and has gone viral on Indian social media.
Shefali Jariwala, often remembered as the “Kaanta Laga Girl,” shot to fame in the early 2000s through the popular music remix. She later appeared in films alongside stars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar and was a contestant in popular shows such as Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye. She is survived by her husband, Parag Tyagi.
