Islamic New Year 1447 Hijri expected to commence on June 27, as forecasts indicate moon won’t be sighted on June 25.
It is unlikely that the Muharram moon will be visible to the unaided eye on the same day, particularly in South Asia and the Middle East, as experts have confirmed that it will be born on June 25 at 3:31 p.m. They say the chances of seeing the Muharram moon on June 26 are very high.
Nonetheless, astronomers noted that on the evening of June 25, there is a possibility of moon visibility through telescopes in some areas of the United States.
The new moon is more likely to be visible worldwide on Thursday, June 26. This increases the probability that the first day of Muharram will fall on Friday, June 27 in most places, including Pakistan.
The 10th of Muharram, or Youm-e-Ashura, will be celebrated nationwide on Sunday, July 6, if this forecast comes to pass.
According to reports of moon sightings, Pakistani religious authorities, including the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, are scheduled to convene on June 26 to formally declare the beginning of the new Islamic year.
