The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has predicted probable visibility of Muharram ul Haram 1447 moon on the evening of June 26 and first of the month and new Hijri year on June 27.
The Youm-e-Ashur (10th of Muharram) likely to occur on July 06 in the country.
In a press release the Suparco stated that Muharram ul Haram 1447 Hijri crescent is likely to be born on June 25 at 3:32 PM, its age will be approximately 28:15 hours at sunset on June 26.
“A likely time interval between sunset and moonset at coastal regions will be 75 minutes,” stated a spokesman of the Suparco.
This period will afford adequate and conducive conditions for sighting and viewing of the Muharram ul Haram crescent moon,” the statement said.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold its meeting on Thursday for sighting of the Muharram ul Haram 1447 Hijri crescent.
The Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also separately hold their meetings at their own headquarters for sighting of the moon.
Earlier, the Punjab Home Department has issued orders for the imposition of Section 144 throughout the province from 1st to 10th Muharram in an attempt to ensure law and order throughout the holy month.
In a notification released on Saturday, the provincial home department announced that it would prohibit every activity considered sensitive or potentially provocative during this time. It also stated that authorities are putting special security measures in place to avert sectarian violence.
The government will not permit any new religious processions or meetings during Muharram, according to the official spokesperson. It has also imposed a complete ban on the public display of all kinds of weapons and firearms, even for licensed holders.
