National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has announced the auction of several Bahria Town properties, set to take place on June 12 at 11am at the NAB office in Islamabad.
Prominent properties like Arena Cinema, Safari Club, Rubeish Marquee and Lawn, Bahria Garden City, Golf Course Bahria Town Islamabad, and the Corporate Office in Phase 2 of Bahria Town would be up for sale, according to a NAB official.
Before the auction, potential purchasers will also get a special briefing at the NAB office.
The program is a component of NAB’s continuous endeavors to retrieve assets and guarantee openness via public auctions.
This year, the watchdog started the process of extradition for Riaz and his son and cautioned the public against investing in Bahria Town’s Dubai project.
The NAB [filed] a reference against Riaz, Minister Sharjeel Memon, former Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, and others in February for the transfer of land to Bahria Town. For illegally obtaining 4,500 kanals of state land in Rawalpindi’s New Murree for Takht Pari forest area and Bahria Golf City, the watchdog has filed two corruption references.
Due to corruption allegations against Riaz, NAB announced in March that it had sealed “numerous” Bahria Town commercial and residential properties in Karachi, Lahore, Takht Pari, New Murree/Golf City, and Islamabad.
Additionally, it has frozen hundreds of Bahria Town’s automobiles and bank accounts.
