On the directive of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued New CNIC and B-Form rules for 2025, revealed the sources.
This major move has been made for the digitalization of Pakistan’s identification document system. According to new amendments, a birth registration certificate is obligatory for B-form in Pakistan at local Union Council level. This is done to remove fraudulent entries and strengthen child protection.
Biometric Requirements
The new biometric requirements have been segregated based on age groups:
- No biometric information or photos for children below 3 years.
- Photo and iris scan for the age group 3 to 10.
- Photo, biometric fingerprints, and iris scan for the 10 to 18-year age group.
A fixed validity period B-form will be issued to every child. Older B-forms are still valid, but a new B-form is now required for passport purposes.
NADRA has also accorded statutory status to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC) under CNIC and B-Form rules. Applicants will now have to affirm their family details are correct.
The FRC will now have complete details of individuals having multiple marriages, and women can also choose to display either their father’s or husband’s name on their CNIC.
In addition, NADRA has also assured addressing CNIC confiscation or restoration cases within 30 days. NADRA introduced a chipless new identity card with smart card technology including bilingual data (Urdu and English) and a QR code for verification.
It provides faster delivery and is less expensive. NADRA has launched these new CNIC and B-Form policies to enhance transparency, deter identity fraud, and make it easier for the public to obtain safe data and documents.
In addition to this, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has expanded the Biker Service in Karachi.
NADRA Director General Aamir Ali Khan made the announcement that they have increased the Karachi mobile biker service from 3 units to 8 to reach more people faster.
