On the orders of the General Administration & Coordination Department, all government offices, including the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), will be closed on Ashura 2025’s account, sources said.
Citizens searching for NADRA services are recommended to plan ahead as the NADRA office closure will impact operations for two consecutive days. The offices will resume normal functioning on Monday, July 7, 2025.
In accordance with the announcement, the closure of the NADRA office also extends to service centres that are 24-hour working.
The activities will close at midnight between July 4 and 5 and resume at midnight between July 6 and 7, concluding the complete 48-hour duration of the holiday.
Citizens, however, might have to receive some NADRA services remotely via the Pak ID mobile app, which is still accessible during the NADRA office closure.
In remembrance of the Ashura holidays 2025, the Sindh government has promulgated July 5 and 6, 2025, in line with the 9th and 10th of Muharram as public holidays throughout the province.
The move is in keeping with the observance of Ashura at the national level, a remembrance of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.) and his companions at Karbala.
The federal government also declared public holidays on the same days.
Although all administrative authorities will remain operational despite Ashura holidays 2025, departments that are engaged in vital services and Muharram security responsibilities will remain in operation.
Law enforcement, emergency services, and municipal administrations responsible for maintaining religious processions and assemblies are among them.
The Karachi Traffic Police made an announcement on Thursday for a traffic management strategy to ensure commuters during the Muharram-ul-Haram processions on the 8th, 9th, and 10th Muharram.
The main processions will begin from Nishtar Park and take specific routes before culminating at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
