The National Assembly speaker has implemented a new social media policy to streamline documentation and presentation of parliamentary proceedings, restricting access to media content related to House sessions.
Members of the National Assembly will no longer be permitted to obtain images or videos directly from the media wing, the National Assembly Secretariat announced in a circular.
They will now only be able to view official images via the assembly’s official social media accounts.
The circular states that:
Only the National Assembly’s official Facebook page will share a selection of images and videos from House proceedings.
The House proceedings will no longer be covered by individual MNAs.
According to officials, the decision aims to ensure a consistent public portrayal of the House’s activities while upholding the decorum and integrity of parliamentary proceedings.
