Iranian official media suggested May 11 is a plausible date for the fourth round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, expected to take place in the capital of Oman over the weekend.
An Iranian source close to the negotiation team warned Reuters that the timetable was still subject to change.
“The talks will take place over two days in Muscat, either on Saturday and Sunday or Sunday and Monday.”
Mediator Oman postponed the fourth session of discussions originally set for May 3 in Rome for “logistical reasons”.
A day after Iran’s foreign ministry reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to diplomacy with Washington, top U.S. negotiator Steve Witkoff also stated that Washington was attempting to arrange the next round of negotiations this weekend, according to the news site Axios.
President Donald Trump of the United States, who pulled out of a 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and international powers, has threatened to destroy Iran if his government cannot come to a solution to end the long-running conflict.
Iran insists its nuclear program serves only civilian purpose, while Western nations claim it of pursuing weapons development.
