‘No ally backed Pakistan against India’: CJCSC Mirza

Pakistan, and India fought one of fatal military confrontations in last 50 years, and it raised a number of theories including foreign interference.

In the midst of differing statements, Pak highest General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, CJCSC Chairman, announced that our armed forces handled recent 96-hour military confrontation with India only by its own indigenous capabilities and resources without any foreign support.

Gen Sahir responded to allegations of receiving assistance from friendly nations, most notably China, including satellite intelligence.

He categorically rejected the claims. “Pakistan used only its indigenous capabilities in the actual fighting, while it had deployed machinery that it either manufactured locally or purchased earlier,” he said.

He emphasized that Pakistani troops conducted the short but serious confrontation entirely on their own. “We handled the whole operation ourselves. No nation gave us real-time assistance,” he stated.

General Shamshad pointed out that this confrontation directly involved urban centers, unlike earlier encounters that remained confined to border areas such as Kashmir, though he refrained from revealing the exact date or full extent of the standoff.

There is a temporary lull on the borders, but the tensions are increasing in urban areas. Future wars won’t be confined to usual hotspots anymore,” he cautioned.

In context of overall bilateral ties between the South Asian giants, Gen Shamshad noted absence of an official conflict resolution mechanism.

“We don’t have anything more than the DGMO hotline for exchange of communication in emergency situations, which is quite inadequate when tensions rise,” he added.

He also expressed alarms at the escalation of extremist ideologies within the region, emphasizing that these conditions narrow the scope of international diplomacy.
