On a day designated for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to meet party founder Imran Khan, no party representatives appeared at Adiala Jail on Thursday, leaving the scheduled meeting unfulfilled.
Imran Khan, currently under physical remand by the Rawalpindi Police, remained without visitors as the allotted time for meeting prisoners, outlined in the jail manual, concluded without any arrivals from his party.
According to reports at Adiala Jail, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja reached out to the jail administration by phone, seeking details about the meeting arrangements. However, he reportedly received no updates or confirmation from the authorities.
In a separate development, Khan’s legal counsel, Faisal Chaudhry, conveyed his concerns through a WhatsApp message to the jail superintendent, emphasizing the urgent need for a meeting to address his client’s welfare.
Adiala Jail officials, however, clarified that Khan is not in their jurisdiction during his physical remand. His cell in the jail premises has been designated as part of the New Town police station in Rawalpindi, making the police responsible for granting or denying access to him during this period.
