Pakistan renowned weightlifter Nooh Dastgir Butt has won two gold medals by retaining his title at the World Strongman Championship 2025 in Uzbekistan.
The 24-year-old Gujranwala athlete yet added another feather to the cap of the country by Argonaut-like performance that left no stone unturned to prove that he is the boss in the field.
Butt won the best awards by taking maximum points in the preliminary rounds and he was declared the unopposed hero of the tournament.
It is the second year in a row that Butt has captured the World Strongman crown. His steady showing in the past two years has not only brought him personal accolade but has also put Pakistan on the world weightlifting map.
Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) officials described the feat as a historic moment in the strength sports in the nation.
Nooh has established a standard to be followed by young generation. His work rate and discipline is an epitome to any upcoming athletes, said a PWF spokesperson.
The reaction of people to his victory was also full of celebration as fans and other athletes went to social media to congratulate him. His achievement has led to much acclaim and the issuance of further requests to enable weightlifting and strength-related sports in Pakistan.
The father of Butt, Dastgir Butt put the win down to hard work and prayer. “Nooh has given much to be at this stage. I am not sure if his victory belongs only to our family but to the whole nation,” he told reporters.
According to experts, the successive wins of Nooh Dastgir Butt on the international platform can be termed as the turning point in the future of Pakistan in the global weightlifting competitions.
