The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) have officially announced the increase in gas prices of most consumers, power plants and industries, as per July 1, 2025, sources covered.
The news has been aired in the form of a formal advertisement, which is in line with the whole-of-government strategy of aligning the cost recovery and regulatory compliant matches to the electricity rates.
The monthly fees by users will go up. Individuals that have some security will pay Rs600 monthly as opposed to Rs400. The unprotected will experience an increase in monthly fee to Rs1,500, currently Rs1,000.
The households which use more than 1.5 cubic meters of gas will implement an additional rise in the price with the fixed charges rising up by Rs2,000 to Rs2,400.
The recent Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) Meeting that was chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb agreed to the modified pricing model in the ongoing session.
The OGRA gas price increment also covers 10% increment in gas prices in power plants using gas and the industrial consumers. This step is in accordance with substantive targets that the country has signed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Interestingly, the prices of gas to the commercial consumers, tandoor, CNG stations, cement, and fertilisers industries has not been revised and this has given a sense of relief to certain important sectors.
The current gas price increase in Pakistan is the scope of a wider fiscal policy of decreasing the circular debt in the energy sector and a guarantee of the constant gas supply to high-priorities.
Previously the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) reduced the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs4.62.
This is according to a news sent by the OGRA on Saturday that LPGs rates have fallen to Rs 240.43 kilogram after a decline of Rs 4.62.
