Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a tax-free facility of mobile registration to the overseas Pakistanis of a 120 day period each time during visiting their home country.
The FBR in a statement issued here said that Overseas Pakistanis could take 120 days per visit tax-free mobile registration facility under the policy of the Federal board of revenue (FBR).
This is a policy that is made possible through the PTA so that visitors may be connected with mobile connectivity efficiently even when they are staying in the country on short term basis.
Ever since then, the PTA is helping this initiative with their free and automated Temporary Mobile Registration System.
Overseas Pakistanis can avail the tax-free mobile registration facility via the DIRBS portal at https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs.
Through the initiative, mobile connectivity in the country is expected to be smooth in the event of a short visit in Pakistan and it is an important indication of the seriousness of PTA to facilitate digital access among all foreign visitors.
In the past, the PTA in conjunction with PTCL and the participation of the private sector has launched free Wi-Fi hotspots in six-months to the selected universities with the recognition of HEC such as women universities to enable students to have better access to the digital resources.
On the occasion of the activities in observing that Pakistan has crossed the 200 million telecom subscriber mark, the mobile manufacturers will donate 2,000 locally assembled smartphones that will be distributed among the female SIM owners on the basis of computerized balloting in Pakistan, AJK and GB.
The statement continued to add that, “PTA will continue bridging the gap between Pakistan and facilitate digital empowerment in the country.”
