With tensions rising again between India-Pak, many Indian digital sites began quietly removing Pakistani artists from music, films promos and posters.
Posters got edited, names erased from credits, and songs pulled down — upsetting fans from both sides.
Popular actor Fawad Khan, who starred in Kapoor & Sons, is among the most visible cases. His pic got taken off from Budhu Sa Mann song poster, and same track not even showing anymore on YouTube India. His old film Khoobsurat still shows him—for now.
Actress Mahira Khan also got same treatment. Her image got removed from Raees album cover, now only shows Shah Rukh Khan.
Mawra Hocane, who was lead in Sanam Teri Kasam, also wiped from platforms like Spotify, YouTube Music. Reports say she’s out from sequel plans too.
Even singer Atif Aslam wasn’t spared. His name missing from songs he sang, which made fans angry. Social media filled with posts calling it unfair and forced censorship.
Move triggered new debate—should politics decide who gets seen and heard in art world? Critics say music and film should build peace, not fuel divides.
“Art meant to connect hearts, not cut them off,” one fan posted on X, echoing many voices hurt by this growing digital divide.
