COAS-Trump meeting: Kashmir and water disputes on agenda as COAS Asim Munir meet US President Donald Trump, says Rana Sanaullah.

The meeting has great diplomatic significance, according to Mr. Sanaullah, an adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as Pakistan seeks to gain American understanding on important regional issues.

He emphasized that Washington will be urged to do its part to deter such actions and that “India’s attempts to weaponize water” must be denounced globally.

The meeting will also push for a negotiated settlement on Kashmir, he said, adding that “if India blocks our water, it will be tantamount to war.”

The PML-N leader insisted that both regional peace and economic cooperation will play a significant role in the talks, with an emphasis on “bilateral trade, water security, and peaceful resolution of longstanding disputes,” even though official confirmation of the meeting’s schedule is still pending.

According to Mr. Sanaullah, Pakistan will reaffirm its stance that Kashmir must remain at the center of any larger peace framework and cannot be marginalized.

He continued by saying, “The United States has a role to play, directly or indirectly, in ensuring that the region does not plunge into another crisis due to India’s unilateral actions.”
