The entire stadium renovation project planned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi has cast doubt on the outcome of the national team’s Test showdown with England.
As part of the current International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25, Pakistan and England will play three Test matches.
The first Test is scheduled to take place in Multan from October 7–11.
The final match is scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi from October 24 to 28, with the second Test taking place in Karachi from October 15 to 19.
On the other hand, the PCB has made the decision to upgrade the locations of the Champions Trophy 2025, which includes the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and the National Stadiums in Karachi and Lahore, respectively, as well as Gaddafi Stadium.
The series cannot go on as scheduled because of the construction delay. The huge event in 2025 will be impacted if the work is stopped.
Moreover, it is not a good idea to host games without any attendance.
The cricket organization intends to take into account substitutes like Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in response to these problems.
But since the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to October 20, Abu Dhabi is the only choice available in the United Arab Emirates.
The board is likely to announce the final site in the coming days following discussions with the England Cricket Board (ECB), but a final decision has not yet been reached.
