Pakistan and Afghanistan have reportedly agreed to fully restore diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level, according to media reports.
Media reports indicate that both countries have made significant progress in normalizing their diplomatic relationship and are set to reestablish full ambassador-level engagement. The decision is said to have emerged from recent high-level discussions between the two neighboring nations.
The development follows an informal meeting held in Beijing between the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China. According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers emphasized the importance of trilateral cooperation to strengthen regional security and economic integration.
The three countries reaffirmed their joint commitment to counter terrorism, address cross-border militancy, and ensure regional stability.
Pakistan and Afghanistan also agreed to enhance diplomatic coordination and promote initiatives supporting trade, infrastructure, and overall regional development.
Additionally, the three nations agreed to expand the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into Afghanistan. They reiterated their shared dedication to advancing regional counterterrorism, peace, and stability.
The Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed that the sixth round of the trilateral foreign ministers’ dialogue will soon be hosted in Kabul, reflecting the shared belief that closer cooperation is vital for long-term prosperity.

The MOFA spokeswoman stated, “Both sides exchanged views on the evolving situation in South Asia, the future trajectory of Pakistan-China friendship, and CPEC 2.0.”
The two ministers had a detailed discussion on regional trends and bilateral relations during the meeting, with a special emphasis on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
