In a bid to fortify relations with Afghanistan, Pakistan has decided to elevate its diplomatic presence in Kabul by appointing a full-fledged ambassador, announced Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Dar stated that significant and fruitful conversations with Afghan officials were place during his visit to Kabul on April 19, 2025, indicating that Pak-Afghan relations were improving.
Dar said on his official X account, “I am happy to announce the Government of Pakistan’s decision to upgrade the level of its Chargé d’Affaires in Kabul to the level of Ambassador in order to maintain this momentum.”
He went on to say that this move demonstrates Islamabad’s desire to forge a closer, more solid alliance with Kabul.
Dar underlined that this “step would further” improve diplomatic interaction and open the door to more collaboration in the areas of commerce, economic growth, security, and counterterrorism.
The minister expressed optimism that this action will encourage more interactions between the two friendly nations in the future.
