Pakistan’s rating in the world happiness survey has dropped marginally to 109th. Last year, Pakistan was ranked 108th. Despite a drop in the rankings this year, Pakistan is still outperforming its regional counterparts. Pakistan continues to score higher among its neighbours, with Afghanistan at 118th and India at 147th.
The annual report, published by Gallup and its collaborators, rates 147 nations based on their happiness levels, as measured by population surveys of quality of life between 2022 and 2024.
South Asia’s Performance
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are ranked 133rd and 134th in the area, respectively, while Iran, although hosting 3.9% of the region’s refugees, is ranked 99th. China leads Asia with a good performance in 27th place.
World Rankings
Finland remains the world’s happiest country, followed by Denmark and Iceland. Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, and Norway round out the top 15.
Meanwhile, the United States and the United Kingdom have suffered significant reductions, with the former sliding to 24th—its lowest position ever—and the latter to 23rd, its lowest since 2017.
Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe are among the countries with the lowest happiness levels.
