Punjab Counter terrorism department (CTD) has foiled Indian espionage plot, apprehended six Pakistani nationals working as RAW facilitators in a well-planned operation.
Punjab Additional IG Shahzada Sultan told reporters at a press conference in Lahore that the CTD had foiled a terrorist plot to destabilize important parts of southern Punjab, especially Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.
Shahzada Sultan declared, “We have taken two Indian spies from Bahawalnagar and one RAW facilitator from Bahawalpur into custody.”
“This operation represents a major victory against the escalating threats of foreign-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan.”
Initial investigations revealed that the facilitators were getting ready to attack Bahawalpur’s railway stations and mosques.
Two Indian intelligence officers’ audio recordings were found during the operation, Shahzada Sultan revealed.
Major Ravindra and Inspector Singh, two Indian officers connected to the Indian intelligence service, were named in the investigation.
Sultan asserted that the facilitators close to the Pakistani border received improvised explosive devices (IEDs) directly from Major Ravindra.
“IEDs were to be used specifically against the mosque,” a CTD official stated.
The planned attacks were financed through branchless banking platforms and cryptocurrency channels, suggesting a complex financial support system.
This was further supported by the additional IG (operations), which claimed that money was transferred into Pakistan for subversive activities through a number of digital channels.
