General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and South Africa Chief of the Air Staff Lieutenant General Wiseman Simo Mbambo met in Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi, sources told.
Going by the ISPR statement issued on Thursday, the meeting saw the two parties discuss the broadest of areas of mutual interests and bilateral cooperation.
The dignitaries also addressed the feasible steps that were to be undertaken to increase the degree of and the extent of the interactions between the two militaries. They also shared views about the general geopolitical environment.
The CJCSC gave the Pakistani view on the changing regional security arrangement and brought out the Pakistani input to regional peace and stability.
The visiting dignitary not only paid tribute to professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces but also commended on their losses in combating terrorism.
At Joint Staff HQs earlier, a well-trained tri-services contingent tendered the visiting dignitary to a Guard of Honour.
Earlier, the Senate on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution to observe 25th May as Pakistan-Africa Friendship Day.
Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar moved the resolution on the Pakistan-Africa Friendship Day observed in the Senate on Thursday.
The resolution reflected the determination that the Pakistan government will further develop and strengthen its ties with African nations in all areas comprising political, economic, technological, cultural and educational realms for the benefit of both sides.
It stated that Pakistan will further increase its efforts towards peace and stability of the African continent including by increasing its role and cooperation with African Union in the field of UN peacekeeping and strengthening African solutions to African problems.
