Pakistan Foreign Office strongly condemned the United States for carrying out airstrikes on Iranian nuclear installations on Sunday, denouncing the action as a breach of international law.
The U.S. strikes occurred on the 10th day of the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, which began after Israel launched a series of attacks on Iran on June 13.
Pakistan expressed deep concern over the escalating hostilities and called on all parties to avoid further provocations.
“These attacks disregard all established norms of international law. Iran, under the UN Charter, has every right to defend its sovereignty,” the Foreign Office said in an official statement. Describing the developments as “highly alarming,” Pakistan warned that this surge in violence could have consequences extending far beyond the Middle East.
The statement also underscored the need to protect non-combatants and civilian infrastructure, urging respect for International Humanitarian Law from all involved parties.
Pakistan’s statement comes as fears grow globally over the expanding conflict involving Iran, Israel, and now the United States—raising the specter of a broader regional war.
According to U.S. President Donald Trump, the strikes targeted three critical Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Trump, posting on his Truth Social platform, claimed the mission was successful.
“All aircraft have exited Iranian airspace. A full payload was dropped on Fordow, the main target,” he announced, commending U.S. military forces and adding, “Now is the time for peace.”
Previously, Pakistan had expressed support for Trump’s diplomatic efforts, stating that he should be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize for helping ease tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.
“President Trump showed exceptional leadership and strategic insight through decisive diplomatic engagement with both capitals, successfully defusing a dangerously escalating conflict,” the Foreign Office had stated.
