Pakistan and Turkiye reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen bilateral cooperation and strategic ties, as leadership of both countries condemned ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and expressed strong support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity under international law.
On the fringes of the 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Istanbul, where the commitment was reaffirmed.
In keeping with the strategic nature of the two-way relationship, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir also attended the meeting.
The two sides vehemently denounced Israel’s ongoing aggression in Gaza during the negotiations, calling it a flagrant breach of humanitarian standards and international law.
They emphasized how urgent it is to put an end to the Israeli military campaign and guarantee that the besieged Palestinian population continues to receive humanitarian aid.
The leaders also reaffirmed their unwavering support for Iran’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and UN Charter right to self-defense. They urged the international community to contribute to the restoration of peace and stability in the area and acknowledged the significance of exploring diplomatic options to reduce the escalation of growing tensions.
Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s profound gratitude for its long-standing relationship with Turkiye, which is based on shared values, history, and mutual trust, and he sent President Erdogan the warm greetings of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In recognition of President Erdogan’s contribution to furthering the interests of the Muslim world as a whole, the Deputy Prime Minister also congratulated him on Turkiye’s successful hosting of the OIC foreign ministers’ summit and the leadership award given to him by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum.
