The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that the majority of regions in the country including Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan will remain hot and dry during the week (June2-7).
Isolated rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms, however, may occur in the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) during this period, it added.
In Punjab, hot and dry weather will dominate the majority of areas. Isolated rain, thunderstorm, windstorm, and dust storm could appear in southern and north-eastern Punjab, such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and the Pothohar area from June 2 to 5.
Hot and dry conditions will prevail across most districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Turbat, Gwadar, Khuzdar, and Zhob. Likewise, majority of Sindh districts, such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Mirpurkhas, shall be hot and dry.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will experience hot and dry weather, while northern areas like Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Malakand, Abbottabad, and Kurram can expect scattered rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms between June 2 and 6.
Partly cloudy conditions with isolated rain, windstorm, and thunderstorm are likely to occur in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, and adjacent areas from June 2 to June 5, extending up to June 7.
Impact-based weather alert for the duration has been issued by National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) of NDMA.
NDMA appeals to all the district and provincial governments to stay prepared for emergencies, stay alert, and contact local response teams for early action.
