Pakistan has received about 350 Afghan students who have come to pursue studies in its leading universities under the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) welcomed the students at its regional center in Peshawar. This is a major development in enhancing educational relations between the two nations.
The students will be enrolling into various streams of study throughout Pakistan. They will be undertaking a preparatory course before enrolling into classes in the fall semester.
Additionally, 50 PhD and 100 master’s students from Afghanistan will be arriving in September 2025 under the same programme.
The Allama Iqbal Scholarships Programme is a great effort by the government of Pakistan. It provides 4,500 scholarships to Afghan students for study at higher levels.
The aim is to establish people-to-people links and facilitate long-term educational cooperation.
Representatives from Nutech Islamabad and Nuces-Fast Faisalabad were there to greet the students. Project Director Jehanzeb Khan and Nasir Shah from HEC greeted them.
The students were referred to as “young ambassadors” of Afghanistan, who will add value to the learning process in Pakistan.
This scholarship scheme is a manifestation of the Islamic brotherhood and regional solidarity spirit. HEC officials stated that the students would contribute to the establishment of long-lasting academic and cultural ties.
Their arrival in Pakistan demonstrates a common vision for peace, development, and friendship through education.
