Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has confronted Indian threats with unwavering approach stating that Pakistan is fully capable of defending its sovereignty.

Speaking at a passing-out parade ceremony, he reaffirmed that the Two-Nation Theory remains the cornerstone of Pakistan’s identity and that there is no uncertainty among Pakistanis regarding its significance.

While addressing the cadets, General Munir remarked, “Muslims and Hindus are fundamentally distinct in every sphere of life — from religion and traditions to customs, ideologies, and aspirations.” He stressed the tremendous sacrifices made by the forefathers of Pakistan in securing a separate homeland and reiterated that the Two-Nation Theory recognizes Muslims and Hindus as two distinct nations.

“Our ancestors made unparalleled sacrifices to achieve the creation of Pakistan. Their relentless struggle ultimately led to the foundation of a new, independent state,” he said. “The Two-Nation Theory continues to be the guiding principle of Pakistan’s existence, and no Pakistani harbors any doubt about its truth.”

General Munir also took aim at Indian media and social media outlets, accusing them of spreading falsehoods and misrepresenting historical facts.

“The Indian media, especially the so-called ‘Modi media,’ is engaged in spreading disinformation and propaganda. However, no number of lies can rewrite history,” he asserted. “Attempts to weaken the Two-Nation Theory will fail. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had clearly and emphatically articulated the Two-Nation Theory.”

General Munir’s remarks come at a time of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, following the Pahalgam attack and the resulting cross border diplomatic and military standoff.

Alaa, a witness who was interviewed at Nasser Hospital, where injured patients were strewn on the floor and in hallways because of a shortage of space, said, "All of a sudden, they let us move forward and made everyone gather, and then shells started falling, tank shells." Approximately a dozen mangled bodies were seen in a street in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, according to social media footage. The Israeli military, which has been fighting Palestinian militants led by Hamas in Gaza since October 2023, admitted to firing in the area and stated that it was investigating the incident. According to Palestinian medical personnel, the incident claimed the lives of at least 59 people and injured 221 others, at least 20 of whom were critically ill. Donkey carts, rickshaws, and civilian cars were being used to transport the casualties to the hospital. Since aid began returning to Gaza in May, it was the highest number of fatalities in a single day. The Israeli military said in a statement: "Earlier today, a group was spotted near IDF troops stationed in the vicinity of Khan Younis, and next to an aid distribution truck that became stuck in the area.
