Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the suspension of all flights through Iranian airspace following Iran’s large-scale missile attack on Israel. The airline has rerouted its flights and will continue to do so until the situation stabilizes.
According to a PIA spokesperson, pilots and flight operations have been instructed to avoid Iranian airspace for safety reasons.
This decision affects flights to the UAE, Bahrain, Doha, and Saudi Arabia, which normally use the Southern Corridor, as well as flights to Canada and Turkey, which typically rely on the Northern Corridor of Iranian airspace.
The spokesperson highlighted the importance of avoiding Iranian airspace until further clarification of the situation.
The precautionary move comes after reports of Iran firing hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel, with Israeli authorities confirming at least 102 missiles. This escalation has raised safety concerns for commercial flights in the region, prompting PIA to act.
