PIA has relaunched direct Lahore-Paris flights after five-year hiatus, marking a major development in boosting European connectivity.
Lahore-Paris flights: At 12 p.m. on Wednesday, the first weekly flight, PK-733, took off from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, transporting 276 passengers to the French capital, according to a PIA spokesperson.
This restart comes after years of restricted connectivity throughout Europe because of operational and legal issues.
The relaunch of the route was celebrated with a large ceremony at the airport. The event, which celebrated the resuscitation of one of PIA’s important international routes, was attended by airline officials and passengers.
The spokesperson added that PIA currently offers two weekly flights from Islamabad to Paris and that passengers in Punjab looking for direct flights to Europe will have more options with the addition of the Lahore route.
After four and a half years, PIA made a historic comeback to Paris in January 2025 when flight PK 749 touched down in the French capital.
After taking off straight from Islamabad at 12:30 pm, the flight traveled eight hours to reach Paris.
PIA employees and representatives from the Pakistan Embassy were on hand to welcome the travelers at the Paris Airport.
In addition to the crew, the flight carried 317 passengers. Senior officials and PIA CEO Amir Hayat also boarded the first flight.
