Shehbaz Sharif has commended US diplomatic efforts under Marco Rubio in a phone call on Friday, citing crucial role in preventing Middle East catastrophe.
PM Sharif wished US President Donald Trump well during the call, praising his fearless leadership and calling his recent remarks regarding Pakistan “very encouraging.”
Additionally, he commended Secretary Rubio’s proactive diplomacy, claiming it was crucial in preventing war between India and Pakistan, two nuclear-armed nations.
Moreover, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to regional peace and said he wanted to discuss all unresolved matters with India, including trade, counterterrorism, Kashmir, and the Indus Waters Treaty.
The two sides also talked about the Iran-Israel conflict and the Middle East situation.
Shehbaz said Pakistan stands ready to play a constructive role in resolving the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict and emphasized Islamabad’s consistent call for de-escalation and diplomacy in the Middle East.
Also, PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of strengthening trade, investment, and energy cooperation with the United States while outlining Pakistan’s strategic priorities.
Additionally, he advocated for greater cooperation in important fields like information technology (IT), rare minerals, and mining.
Operations against outlawed organizations such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and other extremist groups will continue, the premier said, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong commitment to combating terrorism.
