Private medical colleges fees set to an annual maximum of 1.8 million Indian rupees for MBBS and BDS programs.
The government has capped the yearly costs of private medical and dental schools nationwide.
An official statement revealing this decision declared that private institutions would have to submit their financial information to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMD), hence guaranteeing fee control and transparency.
The statement says that private medical colleges will be forbidden from raising fees unnecessarily and will only be permitted to do so annually according with the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
Parents and students have been protesting the exorbitant cost of medical schooling for years, therefore the government’s decision is being considered the realization of a longtime demand.
The statement went on saying that the decision was endorsed at the Prime Minister’s instructions to make education in private medical colleges more available.
Given that it is supposed to solve the problem of excessive costs, the government’s action is much appreciated by students and their parents.
