Punjab Food Authority (PFA) reported on Sunday that they had seized 420 kilograms of dead meat near Darya Khan, Punjab.

Punjab Food Authority disposed off it at the set dumping site, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Police usually conduct sweeps to apprehend the perpetrators; in many areas of the nation, the sale of meat from dead animals is a usual activity.

Dead meat, which is meat from an animal that died other than by legitimate intentional slaughter or hunting, cannot be consumed according to Islamic judgments.

APP, referring to PFA contacts, reported that a raid was conducted near Darya Khan with police help on a tipoff and 420kg of meat from dead animals was discovered.

Present at the scene, a vet verified that the animal had passed before slaughter, the report noted.

APP said a case was filed against the suspect.

20 maund of dead animal meat was found in a van at Riazabad Chowk last month by Chowk Sarwar Shaheed Patrolling Police.

At the time the dead animal meat was being hauled from Chowk Azam to a Multan area hotel, Patrol officers had taken the van’s driver in on the spot.

The PFA as well had arrived at the site and begun litigation upon knowing. The PFA and the Patrol Police removed the dead body.

On a tip in November 2022, in an early morning major operation carried out by the city government, a team from the city district administration had confiscated a great amount of meat from dead animals.

The assistant commissioner’s squad (city) also arrested 11 individuals at a cold storage where they stored two tons of meat since the meat was ready to be distributed among the city hotels, restaurants, and markets.
