Punjab government will provide latest agriculture technology to 710 farmers in the province for modern farming and 60 per cent subsidy on installation of solar tube-wells.
Total 1,800 equipment will be provided to lucky farmers after balloting, says agriculture secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo.
The program titled “Transforming Punjab Agriculture” is the initiative of the Punjab government, he said.
The program will complete till June this year, he said while presiding over a meeting in this regard. He also briefed Punjab chief minister Maryam Nawaz about the initiative. .
“The lucky farmers who nominated through balloting will be assured of delivery of Thanks modern machinery in June.”
Secretary agriculture directed to the concerned officers that the agricultural equipment manufacturing firms should have a good reputation. “Inspection of agricultural machinery and equipment will be done by Nespak before delivering to the farmers.”
He directed before delivery of agricultural equipment machinery should be fully inspected at the manufacturing plants.
Iftikhar Ali Sahoo further disclosed that’d under the Transforming Punjab Agriculture Plan, 5,000 tube wells will be transferred to solar systems in Punjab and 60percent subsidy will be provided for the transfer of tube-wells running on electricity to solar system. In the next two years, 3,000 laser land levelers will be provided to farmers on subsidy. Special Secretary Agriculture Punjab Dr. Sheshanshah Faisal Azim, Additional Secretary Agriculture (Planning) Captain (R) Waqas Rashid, Director General Agriculture (Water Management) Malik Muhammad Akram, Director General Agriculture (Field) Engineer Ahmed Sohail, Consultant Agriculture Department Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali, Director Agricultural Information, Punjab Naveed Asmat Kahloon and other senior officers participated.
