Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday approved the distribution of laptops among the college and university students.
Punjab Laptop scheme objectives
The initiative objectives of the Punjab Laptop scheme are to broaden students’ learning opportunities, particularly benefiting those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, preparing them for the digital era.
The scheme is recognized for its detailed planning and extensive coverage to ensure deserving students are adequately supported.
Although the official launch and registration dates for the Punjab CM Laptop Scheme 2024 have not yet been announced, further details are expected soon.
Besides the laptop initiative, the Punjab CM has also rolled out a transportation program for female students, starting with the provision of buses to 60 girls’ colleges across the province in the first phase.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Principal Secretary to the CM Sajid Zafar Dal and Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed were present there in the meeting.
Punjab CM Laptop Scheme 2024:
The Punjab CM Laptop Scheme 2024 is designed to boost digital literacy and accessibility to education by equipping students from public universities, colleges, and technical institutes with laptops. The distribution process is expected to take several months, including planning, supplier selection, logistics, student registration, and the actual distribution of the laptops.
In a bid to improve digital literacy, Maryam Nawaz’s administration has pledged to create interactive and flexible learning environments for students. The government has introduced two key initiatives: the PML-N’s flagship Laptop Scheme and a Scholarship Program for students. Relevant departments have been instructed to initiate the registration process for both programs.
The Punjab government earmarked over Rs125 billion annually to cover the educational expenses of 25,000 students, ensuring comprehensive financial support.
The CM directed that prizes be awarded to the top-performing students from each educational board in Punjab, as well as to their teachers.
