The Punjab Police would buy modern armored vehicles and weapons to combat the bandits of Katcha area in Rahim Yar Khan, the sources close to the development said on Friday.
The sources said that the relevant authorities made this decision while keeping in view the gravity of the situation.
“As many as 20 bulletproof vehicles and 7 armored vehicles will be purchased for the Kacha operation,†said the sources within the police.
They said that out of these, 12 bulletproof vehicles would be acquired for Rahim Yar Khan’s Kacha area, and 8 for Rajanpur’s Kacha area.
Similarly, 4 armored vehicles will be procured for Rahim Yar Khan and 3 for Rajanpur.
The police sources revealed that 450 G3 rifles and 450 SMG rifles would also be purchased.
The acquisition of modern armored vehicles and rifles would be conducted on an urgent basis.
The logistics branch of Punjab Police would handle the procurement.
The modern armored vehicles and weapons are being purchased based on the demands of DPO Rahim Yar Khan and DPO Rajanpur, they added.
