Lahore Qalandars secured a spot in the Pakistan Super League X final with a dominating 95-run win against Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.
At Gaddafi Stadium, they will now play the Quetta Gladiators in the championship game on Sunday.
United gave up just 107 runs in 16 overs while chasing a formidable 203-run target.
As the rest of the batting order collapsed, only Shadab Khan (26) and Salman Ali Agha (33) provided any genuine batsmanship.
Muhammad Shahzad (0), Rassie van der Dussen (7), Imad Wasim (8), James Neesham (8), Haider Ali (4), Naseem Shah (0), Tymal Mills (7), and Sahibzada Farhan (3) did not make a significant contribution. At the conclusion, Salman Irshad (0) was still not out.
The bowlers for the Qalandars put on a clinical display. Salman Mirza (3-16), Rishad Hossain (3-34) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (3-3) all took three wickets apiece.
Earlier, Lahore scored a commanding 202-6 after choosing to bat first. The innings was stabilized by Mohammad Naeem (50) and Abdullah Shafique (25), even though Fakhar Zaman was dismissed early for 12 off 11 balls.
With two sixes and seven boundaries, Naeem hit a fluid fifty. With 61 off 35 deliveries, including seven fours and two sixes, Kusal Perera was as outstanding.
Asif Ali contributed 15 off seven balls, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa added a rapid 22 off 13 balls.
At the end of the innings, Rishad Hossain (5) and Shakib Al Hasan (0) were still undefeated.
Salman Irshad (2-40), Imad Wasim (1-16), and James Neesham (1-7) also took wickets, although Tymal Mills (3-42) was United’s best bowler.
Salman Ali Agha (0-14) and Shadab Khan (0-25) were both wicketless.
